Past Creedmoor to Long Island and the Future

As you know we've been advocating for NY State, NY City & Nassau County to work together to connect the Motor Parkway Greenway in Queens to the planned Motor Parkway Trail in Nassau. Recently, as part of it's 4th Regional Plan, the RPA released a report titled "Accessing Nature." [PDF] It recommends connecting all the trails and greenways in the region, but it sees the Motor Parkway East as the backbone of a 200 mile trail that spans Long Island from the Narrows in Brooklyn to Montauk in Suffolk, and would allow folks to walk, run, or bike the entire length of the Island.

Shouldn’t it be easy to get to this amazing trail? RPA thinks so!

We thank the RPA for considering our plan, and as usual thinking big! Let's build this trail. The first part is getting past Creedmoor Hospital. Once past there, NYC DOT, Parks and NYC Greenways can work together with Nassau County to start making this plan a reality. Please reach out to Governor Cuomo and your local elected officials to make sure they know this is something you want.
